Contents of the training

As a Surveying Technician (m/f/d), you are an expert in geodata and surveying technology. You will learn to survey terrain, conduct measurements, and utilize the acquired data for construction projects, maps, or digital applications. Your measurements are crucial for creating plans for construction projects, precisely determining property boundaries, or providing terrain models for engineers and architects.
The apprenticeship provides you with extensive knowledge in geoinformation technology and geodata management. You will learn to capture, process, and visualize geodata, as well as perform surveying methods and calculations for precise positioning. Working with modern measurement systems such as GNSS, laser scanners, or drone surveying is also part of the training, as is the application of GIS systems for analyzing and presenting geodata. Furthermore, you will gain insights into the land registry, building and land regulations, and property valuation, and learn to observe legal and administrative regulations.
Work is performed both outdoors and on the computer. You will conduct on-site surveys and subsequently evaluate the collected data using specialized software programs. Thanks to modern technologies such as 3D scans, drones, and GPS systems, your results will be more precise than ever before.
Your projects are diverse: you can work on planning transport routes, documenting urban developments, or precisely surveying buildings and properties. Whether for the construction industry, environmental protection, or urban planning – your expertise is in demand.

Duration and procedure

The apprenticeship generally lasts 3 years and can be shortened to 2.5 or 2 years with excellent performance. It is a dual system, meaning you spend time both at the company and at a vocational school.
Throughout the apprenticeship, classes are held in blocks in Munich, while during practical phases, you apply and deepen your knowledge within the company. An intermediate examination takes place after 1.5 years, and the final examination at the end of the apprenticeship.
After your apprenticeship, many paths are open to you – whether in surveying offices, construction companies, public service, or innovative technology sectors such as geoinformation and smart city planning.
