Contents of the training

If, like us, you are a real fan of large construction machines and also have some technical and manual skills, our workshop is the right place for you.
During your 3.5-year apprenticeship, you will become a true professional in the repair and maintenance of the various machines in our Glass fleet.

From forklifts to rollers, excavators, wheel loaders, trucks, trailers and special vehicles, we have really large and interesting vehicles in our portfolio.
You will learn how to carry out maintenance work on all of them and how to repair the vehicles if necessary.
You will work with wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers as well as power tools and diagnostic equipment to read out faults.
The basics of metalworking are also part of your job, as you will always have to weld, bend or drill something.
Overall, the range of tasks is very broad, so you will acquire a lot of knowledge in the areas of mechanics, hydraulics, electrics and electronics during your training.
You will need this, because every vehicle type is different and not all damage is always immediately apparent.
Sometimes there is a pinch in the gearbox, sometimes the hydraulic hose is leaking or a fuse is faulty.
But don’t worry, your experienced colleagues will always be on hand with help and advice.

Your main workplace is our workshop in Mindelheim.
In some cases, however, you may also have to go out to the construction site if an urgently needed machine is at a standstill.
But no matter where you are, you’ll never be bored.

Duration and procedure

The training lasts a total of 42 months and takes place on a dual basis in the company and at vocational school.
The first two years of training mainly focus on the basics such as maintenance, troubleshooting and initial repair work.

In the third and fourth year of your apprenticeship, you will delve deeper and take on major repairs.
At school, the main focus is on the repair and function of the running gear and power transmission systems.
